How To Pop A Pimple

First off, I am not a proponent of of doing your own extractions. Estheticians are trained professionals that are still honing their pimple popping craft well out of school and into their first job. However, I know you all do it from time to time, so if you’re going to do it, you might as well do it correctly. Here is my step-by-step tutorial on how to pop a pimple.

Wash Your Hands

This seems like a no-brainer, but I know how some of you are just living in the moment, staring into your mirror. You don’t want to introduce more bacteria to the area. Even if you get the blemish out successfully chances are, it’ll come right back after meeting your dirty hands!

Wash the area of extraction

You can either just simply wash your face, or swab the area with a little witch hazel. Again, I cannot stress how important it is to remove all traces of bacteria before you begin.

Apply a hot compress

Take a hot wash cloth and apply it to the area for several minutes. Just like the steaming process of a facial, this will help open the pores and make your extraction easier. Another option is doing your extraction post shower.

Wrap your fingers in cotton

Don’t do your extraction with bare hands. I know, you just washed them, but still! Cotton also acts like a buffer for your fingernails, making the extraction a little less abrasive to your skin.

Swap with Witch Hazel again

Once you believe you got the culprit out, swab the area again, and moisturize as usual. Also, be gentle! Don’t squeeze your face off in the moment, you’ll only give yourself a scab! Remember, if it’s ready it will come out. Only extract something if it has a white head.

…and if you do screw up, I’m always here to finish the job! Hope this helps! Find an organic facial near me
